About DMB

Well, firstly we are a brewpub, with a 110-seater restaurant and 2 well stocked bars.

We are proud to be part of England’s micro-brewery boom and it is our mission to bring quality, craft ale to our home town… A totally independent company, owned by 2 friends and a team of 41 smiley staff – we brew our award winning, super-duper ales, right here on the premises.

From new age hop-bombs to black as your hat, stouts and porters, our Brewers don’t miss a trick and are constantly tinkering to bring you another, thirst quenching and delicious ale.
We are very proud to say that we have been voted, for the 2nd year running, Best Pub in Southampton. And, thanks to our incredible Kitchen Team, you can find us in the Good Food Guide too.

Please have a mooch around our site for lots of interesting facts about our beers, our food, our history and our dog, Mr Watson.

To ensure you don’t nod off whilst reading our About us page you can either stop right here as you have probably got the jist or if you would like to know more then please feel free to read on.

Where we be?

In Town Quay, situated next to Southampton docks opposite Red Funnel Ferries and the iconic Pier which is now Kuti’s Indian Restaurant and right next door to the beautiful, Town Quay Park. DMB is set in the iconic building known as the Wool House. Until 2011 the building was home to the Titanic and Maritime museum. The building has an incredibly chequered past that is once again open to the public.

Our two-storey building is full of interesting art work, old stuff and a few fairy lights. Our most recent purchase is Roger the Badger. You can see him up on the Mezz floor.

Like History?

We are the custodians of the Wool House. One of the last remaining Wool Houses in Europe. Built around 1332 after a sneaky French raiding party, crept up the Solent whilst pretty much the entire village, was in Church. The village was ransacked and almost burnt to the ground and this prompted the monks in Beaulie to build the town wall along with other, still standing although battered, buildings. Ask our lovely staff to fill you in on our buildings very unique past.

We can help with those rumbling bellies too. Visit our 110-seater restaurant on the second floor. Eat whilst admiring our beautiful roof and magnificent views of the Solent. Sit and watch the world go by, watch the tug boats bring in the cruise and container ships, the little fishing boats and look out for the Peregrines. We have a pair nesting in the docks.

Our menus change twice a year and are themed. The current menu has taken its inspiration from the Deep South and feature delights such as Sticky Bourbon and marmalade bacon ribs, succotash and burgers to die for. As great pie lovers there are usually 3 pies on our specials board – one of which is always vegan. Our friendly staff are always on hand to offer advice on which beers pair best with our food.

Madly in love?

We can help with that too! We are Southampton’s most unusual wedding venue and we are bang next door to Southampton’s registry office. Please take a look at our Wedding Section for details of the Reg Office and West Gate Hall.

“But I have a dog and a child”, we hear you say.

Brilliant, we love dogs and well-behaved children. We have a menu for both so that everyone is happy, and it stops the begging (The dogs, not the children).

When the kids get bored, they can go play in Town Quay park, right next door. If you are looking for swings and a play area, you will find one just across the road in Mayflower Park. We can cater for every event. Our lovely Events team we can help organise everything from Wakes to Corporate functions, Naming Ceremonies, Blessings – you name it – we can do it.

“I don’t drink, and I am on a diet.”

Fine with us. (The Events Team are always on a diet – until lunchtime). We have a good selection of soft drinks and coffee and speciality teas to perk you. We don’t even ask that you buy something – all are welcome to wonder around taking pics.

If you change your mind and you do fancy a little drink, we have a fine selection of wines and all manner of spirits, some familiar, some new and a fine range of bottled beers and ciders.

We stay true to our Mission Statement:
